About Fairview, Mountain View
NEIGHBORHOOD FIELD GUIDE / MOUNTAIN VIEW
Fairview: the Eichler chapter of Monta Loma.
Fairview is the Eichler tract within Mountain View’s broader Monta Loma neighborhood. The Monta Loma Neighborhood Association’s home-style history dates Eichler’s development to 1954 and describes more than 200 homes. Its account identifies compact three-bedroom, two-bath plans as characteristic of the original tract. Treat those historical descriptions as a starting point: additions, alterations and replacement systems must be checked for each property.
Monta Loma also includes homes by John Mackay and Mardell Building Company. A low roof, exposed wood or large windows alone does not establish that a house is an Eichler. Read the neighborhood’s home-style history alongside property records, then visit our Monta Loma guide for the wider neighborhood context.
Make a compact plan work for your life.
During a Fairview showing, trace a normal day through the house. Where will coats, work equipment and groceries go? Can you arrange furniture without obstructing doors or the garden connection? Measure the pieces you intend to bring, then compare usable wall space, circulation and storage rather than relying on the bedroom count alone.
Light and privacy: note which rooms receive light during your visit and how windows face neighboring homes. A second visit at another time can answer questions that photographs cannot.
Original plan and changes: ask for available plans, permits and records of enclosed or added spaces. Separate documented work from descriptions that still need confirmation.
Systems and condition: identify the roof, heating and glazing actually installed today. Record inspection questions and review them with qualified specialists.
Everyday routes: try the trips you expect to make at realistic times. Confirm school assignments with the appropriate district for the exact address.
Compare the house, then the alternatives.
Use the same criteria for every candidate: layout, outdoor connection, privacy, condition, documentation and the work you would need to undertake. Our floor-plan library helps frame design questions, while the buyer checklist helps organize follow-up. Neither substitutes for the measurements or records of a particular property.
Selling a Fairview Eichler.
Begin with an accurate floor plan and a clear record of improvements. Show how the rooms function and connect to the garden; identify original features and explain later work with supporting documentation. The mid-century staging guide and seller preparation checklist can help you prepare for a walkthrough with the Boyenga Team.
Plan your next step: Email Eric & Janelle about Fairview or review the Eichler buying process.
