About Cupertino
PROPERTY NERDS / CUPERTINO EICHLER EXPLORER
Start your Cupertino Eichler search with the neighborhood, then look closely at the individual home. A useful shortlist connects location, daily routines and architectural details with the records needed to understand what you are buying.
Begin with Fairgrove
Explore the Fairgrove neighborhood guide, then compare the home’s recorded tract, available drawings and present layout. Keep an address-specific research file: a neighborhood description cannot establish a particular house’s architect, original model or renovation history.
Open the Cupertino home search →
Check each result’s location, description and current status. A city search alone does not verify that every property is an Eichler. For a broader view, use the Silicon Valley neighborhood comparison to organize your priorities.
One photo. Five architectural clues.
883 Brookgrove Lane / Learn to read the room. Our Boyenga Team archive photograph becomes a practical observation exercise: follow the ceiling geometry, exposed beams, garden-facing glass, pendant lights and paths between dining and kitchen spaces. Open each clue, then take its question to your next showing.

The study describes what the photograph shows. It does not establish original materials, structural condition, permitted work or current availability. Keep visible observations separate from facts supported by drawings and property records.
Make the next visit more useful
Compare daylight at the times you use the rooms, views through the glass, furniture clearances and the route from arrival to kitchen and outdoor space. Note what you can observe, which documents are available and what still needs professional review. Confirm school assignments directly with the district for the exact address.

Cupertino Eichler History and Neighborhoods
FAIRGROVE / READ THE NEIGHBORHOOD THROUGH ITS RECORDS
Cupertino’s General Plan describes Fairgrove as a neighborhood of 220 Eichler homes built in the early 1960s. Its planning-area description places the neighborhood between Phil Lane, Tantau Avenue, Bollinger Road and Miller Avenue. This is the City’s planning context, not a count of homes currently for sale.

Architecture with a local planning framework
The City’s residential planning page identifies an R1-e Eichler zoning district and links to its building-design requirements. It also explains that the Eichler Design Handbook was developed with neighborhood residents to support preservation of the architectural style.
Start with Cupertino’s current residential planning resources →
Use the handbook to frame questions, then ask Planning which current requirements apply to your parcel and proposed project. A historic guide, a nearby remodel or a photograph is not project approval.
Separate the developer, designer and later changes
Joseph Eichler’s role as developer is distinct from an architect’s design credit. Do not assign a firm or model to an individual Fairgrove home from its roofline alone. Seek an address-specific plan, dated brochure, permit record or archival reference, and record what remains unconfirmed.
Three questions for a closer look
What is documented? Record the source, date and exact address or tract reference for each drawing. Keep a modern marketing plan separate from an original construction drawing.
What has changed? Compare the entry, outdoor space, bedroom wing and service areas. Ask which changes have plans and permit records rather than inferring their scope from finishes.
What should be preserved? Note the spaces, views and materials you value before proposing alterations. Turn those observations into questions for your designer and the City.
