About Fairmeadow, Palo Alto
Fairmeadow is the south Palo Alto Eichler tract bounded by East Charleston Road, East Meadow Drive and Alma Street. Close to 300 homes were built in the early 1950s on a street plan of concentric circles that locals call “The Circles.” An aerial photo of the plan ran on the cover of Fortune in February 1955.

Remodeling rules
Fairmeadow has no single-story overlay. An effort covering about 120 homes did not pass, and teardowns have been approved here. Palo Alto’s 2018 Eichler Design Guidelines are voluntary. If original character on your block matters to you, look at the street before you buy. See our Eichler design guidelines by city.
